Infrared Thermal Imaging

Infrared Thermal Imaging

Modest. Safe. Beneficial.

Here at Bedford Health Lounge we are offering a new service: Radiometric Infrared Thermal Imaging.

Our thermographer has 17 years of experience and is qualified to Level 2 ITC-PCN.

The equipment used is the Highest specification FLIR B620 (640 x 480 resolution).

This is a non-invasive test of physiology with no risks or side effects. Thermography uses the distribution of surface temperature and subtle changes in skin temperature in order to assess the structural damage or behavior of what lies under the surface. We are offering clients the opportunity to be provided with an indication of possible anomalies within the body.

Thermography can be used as a tool to monitor breast health, not just a way to find disease. Also, there is no radiation or breast compression involved. Thermography isn’t recommended as a replacement for mammography, but a thermogram has some advantages that a mammogram doesn’t including the ability to detect physiologic changes in cancer while it’s still in the cellular phase-sometimes years before it is detectable mammographically.

Post surgery scar tissue or equipment (implants) to make the new breast function correctly. The symmetry between similar areas.

Thermography also can be used to detect lymphatic congestion and hormonal imbalances as well as monitor dietary changes.

Thermal Imaging provides you with the basis to approach your doctor with substantiated evidence there is potentially inflammation or diseases within your body that require further investigation.

Radiometric Infrared Thermal Imaging is being increasingly recognized as a useful tool in the early identification of musculoskeletal and neurological injuries, especially non-specific (and difficult to diagnose) pain syndromes. The ability to detect inflammatory and neurological processes at a very early stage can be critical to the outcome.

Radiometric Infrared Thermal Imaging can provide information about a patient’s response to treatment as well as the effects of injury, disease or prescribed treatment.

We do not provide a professional diagnosis, only a helpful indicator for any anomalies. All thermal anomalies are open to interpretation and further investigation. Normally in a human thermography shows an area of known trauma and periodic thermals may show how this is changing, healing or degrading, but it may also highlight non-painful areas of trauma that were unknown to the patient.

Tests take between 15 – 30 minutes following a free consultation.

Rates for Thermal Imaging Diagnostics start at £99.

Please note: Radiometric pixels are not digital pixels which are completely different. Digital pictures are made up of solid, measured, surface areas whereas a Radiometric pixel is a single area of IR emitted energy. It is basically a measure of invisible, emitted, IR (infrared) energy, and not a measure of a solid surface object.
